Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa got off to an impressive start in the English Premier League season with his side, Leicester City, despite their 2-1 defeat to newly promoted side Hull City, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The 24-year-old who was handed his first start in attack alongside last season’s top scorer Jamie Vardy was impressive for the Foxes who were unlucky not to have been three goals up before half time.
Robert Snodgrass drilled a fantastic strike from the edge of the box to hand Hull City their first win of the season after Leicester failed to clear their lines in the 55th minute.
Adama Diomande had scored the opening goal for the Tigers in the stoppage time of the first half when Abel Hernandez’s improvised over head kick clipped his boot before looping in.
PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez restored parity for the Foxes from the spot in the 47th minute after Gray was adjudged to have been fouled in the box.
Musa who didn’t see much of the ball in the opening minutes created several chances for his teammates who failed to take advantage. First in the 20th minute, the former CSKA Moscow star carved out a chance for Vardy at the edge box but the England international completely missed the ball.
In the 34th minnute he played a brilliant one-two with Christian Fuchs but the Austrian’s poked effort was kept out by Eldin Jakupovic.
Vardy also saw his follow up blocked by Jake Livermore.
Musa again in the 44th minute nipped in to pinch the ball deep in the Hull half made his way into the area and pulled the ball back to Vardy who blazed his shot over the bar.
In the second half, the Foxes raced out of the blocks and were reward with a penalty which Mahrez tucked away.
