Ndidi Named Flying Eagles Vice-Captain

Genk of Belgium defender Wilfred Ndidi has been named the vice-captain of the Nigeria Under-20s for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Ndidi will be assistant to regular skipper Musa Mohammed while striker Taiwo Awoniyi, who has been wearing the band in the absence of Ndidi, will be the team's third captain.

This will be Ndidi's second Under-20 World Cup and he is expected to be a regular for Nigeria in defence longside his favourite partner Zahradeen Bello, flanked by full-backs Musa Mohammed and Mustapha Abdullahi.

The Flying Eagles will face Brazil, Hungary and North Korea in the first round of the tournament billed to kick off on 30 May in New Zealand.
