Emmanuel Emenike, Obinna Nsofor, Osaze Odemwingie See Yellow in Russia, England; Kanu, Mikel, Etuhu, Michael Shine For Clubs
John Mikel Obi(Chelsea), Osaze Odemwingie(West Brom): Super Eagles midfielder, John Obi Mikel, shrugged off the trauma of his father's abduction to post a five-star performance in Chelsea's 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.The dynamic ace was battling in the Blues' holding role and was in action for the entire minutes of the game. It was the second appearance for the former youth international this season.
Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda were on the goals for Andre Villa Boas' side, cancelling out a 4th minute Shane Long's opener for the Baggies. Peter Osaze Odemwingie came on in the 74th minute to replace Camerounian international, Somen Tchoyi, but got himself in the books of referee Lee Mason in the 90th minute. Odemwingie missed his club's first Premier League loss penultimate weekend to Manchester United due to fitness concerns.
Shola Ameobi (Newcastle United): Super Eagles prospect,Oluwashola Ameobi, played from start to finish in Newcastle's 1-0 win over North East rivals,Sunderland at The Stadium of Light on Saturday. The 144th wearside derby between both sides were never short of excitement and it produced six yellow cards and a red card. Ameobi who is close to making his debut for Nigeria's senior national team was in splendid form all through the duration of the game. A 62nd Ryan Taylor free kick eluded all heads in the 18 yard box of Sunderland and sailed into the net. Ameobi undertook the free kick job of the Toons in the game but the closest he came to scoring was in the 66th minute when his shot went off target.Transfer target,Nedum Onuoha, did not play in the Wearside battle just as Ameobi's younger brother,Sammy, was also not listed by Newcastle's gaffer.
Victor Anichebe (Everton): Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe was an unused substitute in Everton's 0-1 loss in the hands of Premier League new boys, Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.The Beijing 2008 Olympics silver medallist has not played a game so far in the two-week old EPL season.
Victor Moses(Wigan Athletic): Super Eagles target,Victor Moses, was in action in Wigan's 0-0 draw away at the Liberty Stadium, against EPL newcomers Swansea. Moses who was yellow-carded in the 76th minute by referee Philip Dowd for a foul on Nathan Dyer played for 90 minutes and was a thorn in the flesh of The Swans back men.
Nwankwo Kanu (Portsmouth): Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu played for 67 minutes in Portsmouth's goalless draw away to Bristol City on Saturday afternoon at Ashton Gate. Papilo has thus played in Pompey's three consecutive npower Championship games this season.The 1996 and 1999 African Footballer of the Year winner was replaced by Benjani Mwaruwari. Kanu's ingenuity proved to be a handful for the Blades throughout the duration of the match.
Dele Adebola, Seyi Olofinjana(HullCity): Nigerian-born Dele Adebola played for just 15 minutes for Hull City when he came on in the 75th minute in place of Tom Cairney in Hull City's 0-1 home loss at the Kingston Communications Stadium to Crystal Palace on Saturday. Former Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana was not listed for the game.
Dickson Etuhu (Fulham): Super Eagles midfielder Dickson Etuhu was paraded for 45minutes in his second game for Fulham in their 2-0 away loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium on Sunday. However, Steve Sidwell took his place in the Cottagers’ midfield in the second half of the encounter.
Kayode Odejayi(Colchester United): Kayode Odejayi was on song in the 5th minute in Colchester United's clash away to Huddersfield Town on Saturday but his strike was not able to salvage any points for his League One side who eventually lost the game by 3-2.
Efetobore Sodje(Bury Town): Bandana tying Super Eagles defender at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Efe Sodje, was in action for Bury Town on Saturday as they romped to a 2-0 away victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park. Sodje fondly referred to as 'Against All Odds' saved his club from a 49th minute goal when he cleared the ball away from danger. He has so far played in his club's three matches in the League One since the start of the 2011/12 season.
Tom Taiwo(Carlisle United): Little known Tom Taiwo bagged a 64th minute yellow card in Carlisle United's 2-1 home win over AFC Bournemouth at Brunton Park on Saturday. Taiwo scored in the 49th minute when he hit a very good left footed shot to the lower left corner from the left 6 yard (aprox. 6 yards).
John Utaka (Montpellier):
Forgotten Super Eagles striker John Utaka played for 88minutes in Montpelier 4-0 demolition of Stade Rennes at the de la Mosson stadium on Sunday. It was the former Portsmouth striker’s second game for the club in the new season. He was replaced afterwards by Cyril Jeunechamp.
Vincent Enyeama (Lille):
Super Eagles first choice goal keeper Vincent Enyeama was an unused substitute for Lille as they defeated Caen 2-1 at the Michel-d'Ornano stadium on Sunday. He is yet to feature for the club since joining from Isreali side Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Obafemi Martins (Rubin Kazan): Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins was expectedly not listed for Rubin Kazan in their 1-1 home draw aagainst FK Amkar Perm at the Zvezda Stadium on Saturday. The former Newcastle forward is yet to feature for his club this season after returning from loan stint at Birmingham.
Chidi Ordiah (CSKA Moscow): Super Eagles right back Chidi Ordiah was an unused substitute for CSKA in their 3-0 home win over Tom Tomsk at the Luzhniki Stadium on Saturday. Odiah has played in only three out of the 19 games CSKA
Obinna Nsofor (Lokomotiv Moscow):
Super Eagles winger Obinna Nsofor was in action for Lokomotiv Moscow in their 1-0 win against Kuban Krasnodar at the Locomotiv stadium on Sunday. He is yet to score in two games for the club since joining the Russian side. It was his second game for the club having joined the club at the summer. He was yeloow carded in the 70th minute of the encounter.
Emmanuel Emenike (Spartak Moscow):
Super Eagles burly striker Emmanuel Emenike played all 90 minutes for Spartak Moskva in their 1-1 draw away to Spartak Nalchik at the Spartak Stadium on Sunday. It was his first game for the club in the Russian league and was yellow carded in the 85th minute of the encounter albeit he is yet to score for the club since joining in the summer.
Chinedu Obasi (TSG Hoffenheim): Fit-again Super Eagles striker, Chinedu Obasi, played his third game in Hoffenheim's 2-0 win away to FC Augsburg at the SGL Arena on Saturday. Obasi almost doubled his side’s lead in the 22nd minute after he broke through the Augsburg defence and unleashed a shot which home team goalkeeper Simon Jentzsch got a hand to. He has bagged two yellow cards so far this term.
Anthony Ujah (Mainz): Dream Team fringe striker Anthony Ujah was not listed for action for Mainz in their 2-4 loss in the hands of former German champions Schalke 04 at the Coface Arena on Sunday. Ujah made his Bundesliga debut for Mainz in their 2-1 away win against SC Freiburg last Saturday.
Mainz currently tops the league with nine points after three games.
Macauley Chrisantus (FSV Frankfurt): On-loan Nigerian striker Macauley Chrisantus was paraded for 17minutes in his second game for Frankfurt FSV in their 4-0 scandalous defeat at home to arch rivals Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank-Arena. He replaced Bubacar Gueye in the 73rd minute of the encounter and is yet to score for his new team since joining them on loan from his parent club Hamburg.
Ahmed Musa, Michael Uchebo, Alex Nkume (VVV Venlo): Nigeria’s all action winger, Ahmed Musa, was handed his first start of the Eredivisie season at home to reigning Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam and grabbed a brace in the encounter at the De Koel stadium on Sunday. He was replaced in the 82nd minute by Rick Verbeek. His compatriots Alex Nkume and Michael Uchebo were also starters in the game. While Nkume played the entire duration of the encounter, Uchebo was substituted in the 62nd minute by Yanic Wildschut.
He is yet to score in two games he has played for the club so far this term.
Rabiu Ibrahim (PSV): Dream Team V playmaker Rabiu Ibrahim was an unused substitute for PSV in their 3-0 win over ADO Den Haag at the Kyocera stadium on Sunday. He is yet to make his debut for the club after completing his move from Sporting Lisbon. It was the third consecutive games he was making the bench.
Brown Ideye, Yusuf Ayila, Haruna Lukman, Frank Temile and Fanendo Adi( Dynamo Kiev) Michael Babatunde (Kryvbas):
In-form Nigerian striker Brown Ideye failed to add to his goal tally of five in his sixth appearance in the Ukrainian league for Dynamo Kiev on Sunday when they hosted Kryvbas who paraded their Nigerian winger Babatunde Michael.
His compatriot Ayila Yusuf was also on for the entire duration of the encounter in his fourth game in his new position for the club. Dream Team V skipper, Haruna Lukman, whose clinical pass led to the only goal of the encounter was yellow carded in the 71st minute. It was his fifth appearance for Yuri Semin's side this summer. The duo of Fanendo Adi and Frank Temile were also not listed for action.
For Michael, it was his seventh game for Kryvbas this term and he has so far scored one goal against Chornomorets, in July.
Kennedy Nwanganga(Genk): Nigerian-born striker Kennedy Nwanganga played for 90 minutes in Genk's 3-2 loss to Cercle Brugge on Saturday at Jan Breydelstadion, home ground of Cercle Brugge, to continue the club's poor run of form which now reads three losses and three draws in six consecutive matches. Last weekend's game was seen by 6,681 fans. It was the third game of the season for Nwanganga for his Jupiler side this season.The striker who turned 21 last week Monday has not scored so far.
Izunna Uzochukwu, Rilwan Hassan, Sylvester Igboun, Jude Nworuh(FC Midtjylland): The quartet of Izunna Uzochukwu, Rilwan Hassan, Sylvester Igboun and Jude Nworuh were all in splendid form in their club's 2-1 home win over Nordsjaelland on Saturday at the MCH Arena home ground. Uzochukwu and Igboun played for all 90 minutes but Hassan was replaced by Jonas Borring in the 71st minute. Former Flying Eagles striker, Jude Ikechukwu Nworuh, was a 73rd minute substitute for two goals hero,Tim Janssen, in the 73rd minute.
