Mikel Obi (Chelsea): Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi shook off his ankle problem to put up a stellar performance for Chelsea in their opening fixture against Stoke City which ended in a goalless at the Britannia stadium on Sunday.

His dipping volley in the 54th minute of the encounter was parried over the bar by impressive Stoke goalie Begovic.

 It was The Blues first draw in the season opener in a decade. The last time they drew was against Newcastle at home in 2001.Dickson Etuhu(Fulham): Super Eagles midfeilder Dickson Etuhu played for 90 minutes in Fulham’s goalles draw against Aston Villa at the Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Etuhu was battling as usuaal in the middle of the park for the cottagers but also has some decent chances to score.

His right footed shot from outside the box was blocked in the 50th minute after receiving a telling pass from  Clint Dempsey. Play was temporarily halted in the 90th minute as the former Norwich star was injured although he managed to complete the game.

Fulham joins nine other English Premier League clubs with the current unbeaten and winless sequence on the opening day of the 2011/12 EPL season.The others are: Aston Villa, Sunderland, Arsenal, Norwich City, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Newcastle  United(for the unbeaten streak so far) and Aston Villa,
Sunderland, Arsenal, Norwich City, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Liverpool, Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United for the current winless sequence.

Nwankwo Kanu (Portsmouth): Former Super Eagles captain,Nwankwo Kanu, was in action for all 90 munites in Portsmouth’s 0-1 lopss to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Fratton Park on Saturday.

It will be Papilo’s second game of the season after he played some part last week in Pompey’s season opener.Steve Coterill’s side are now 16th in the npower Championship table.

Danny Stittu (QPR): Super Eagles defender at the 2010 Nations Cup and World Cup Danny Shittu was not listed in Queen’s Park Rangers’ 0-4 hammering on the hands of visiting Bolton Wanderers in the opening day of the EPL. The emphatic win helped in achieving a landmark in the history of the league as no home team won it’s opening game of the season before now.

Efe Sodje(Bury): Super Eagles defender at the Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup,Efe Sodje was in action for 90 minutes in FC Bury’s loss to Carlisle at the Gigg Lane,home ground of Bury Town on Saturday.The Bandana tying defender was also in 90 minutes on duty last weekend in his club’s 3-1 home win over Coventry City in which he bagged his first yellow card of the 2011/12 season.


 John Utaka (Montpellier) Vincent Enyeama (Lille): Forgotten Super Eagles striker John Utaka was handed a starter’s shirt in the opening game of  Ligue 1 season for Montpellier and fired blanks in their lone goal victory away to the current French Champions Lille at the Lille Métropole stadium on Sunday.
His compatriot Vincent Enyeama who recently joined the French Champions, just like in their previous Lique 1 game was  on the bench in the encounter.


Brown Ideye, Yusuf Ayila, Haruna Lukman, Frank Temile and Fanendo Adi( Dynamo Kiev); Michael Odibe (Arsenal Kiev): In form Nigerian striker, Brown Ideye, scored his fifth goal  of the Ukrainian league against Arsenal Kiev who did not parade their new Nigerian import Michael Odibe in the Kiev derby on Saturday at the Valeriy Lobanovskyy stadium.

 It was his fifth game in the current campaign and was yellow carded in the stoppage time of the first half before being substituted in the 93rd minute of the encounter.

His compatriot Ayila Yusuf who was also on for the entire duration of the encounter has played three games in his new central defence position for the club; while  Dream Team V skipper Haruna Lukman missed  the chance to make a fifth appearance for the club since his switch from France as he was an unused substitute in the game.

The duo of Fanendo Adi and Frank Temile were not listed for action.
Michael Babatunde (Kryvbas): Dream Team V invitee Babatunde Michael played his sixth game for Kryvbas in their goalless draw at home to Vorskla at the Metalurh Kryvyj Rih Stadium on Saturday.

 He replaced Ruslan Kostishin at the start of the second half and has so far scored one goal this term against Chornomorets way back  in July.

Rabiu Ibrahim (PSV): Dream Team V playmaker, Rabiu Ibrahim, was an unused substitute in his side’s 1-0 win over RKC Waalwijk at the Philips stadium on Saturday.

 He is yet to make his debut for the Dutch club after completing a move from Sporting Lisbon.

 Michael Uchebo, Alex Nkume (VVV Venlo): VVV Venlo handed Dream Team V invitee Alex Nkume his first start in the new Dutch Eredivisie season but they were thumped 4-0 by Vitesse Arnhem at the Gelredome stadium on Saturday. He was replaced in the 65th minute by Niels Fleuren.

His compatriot Michael Uchebo started the new campaign from the bench after replacing Barry Maguire but fired blanks in the loss.


Peter Utaka(OB Odense): Super Eagles striker Peter Utaka was in action for 90 minutes in OB Odense’s 2-1 loss away to Aalborg at the Energi Nord Arena on Saturday evening.The game was the fifth of the season for the forward.He has scored one goal in 449 munites of football thus far. Henrik Clausen’s team are currently placed 4th on the Danish league table.

Izunna Uzochukwu, Rilwan Hassan, Jude Nworuh, Sylvester Igboun (Midtjylland): The trio of Izunna Uzochukwu,Rilwan Hassan and former Flying Eagles striker, Sylvester Igboun were all in action on Saturday as therir club, Midtylland lost 2-0 away to FC Copenhagen at The Parken Arena.Uzochiukwu,Hassan and Nworuh got starters’ shirts but Igboun was left on the bench.

Uzochukwu played for 90 minutes but Nworuh who missed the Egypt 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup through injury was replaced by Igboun in the 67th minute  while Hassan made way for Cristian Svebaek two minutes later.

Uzochukwu has now played five matches fopr his side likewise Hassan albeit one goal to his credit.Adigun Salami(two games),Nworuh(four matches,one goal),Igboun(five games,one goal) read a brief statistics of the other Nigerian contigent at the club .The duo of Jacob Olayemi Ogunleye and Semiu Olaniyi Oladiti have not had their chances to play for the side.


  Kalu Uche(Neuchatel Xamax): Super Eagles creative midfielder Kalu Uche began life in the Swiss top flight on Sunday when  they drew goalless against Servette that once paraded former Eagles midfielder,Wilson Oruma.
The best Eagles outfield playere at the 2010 FIFA World Cup played fpr 90 minutes Uche, now played as a striker by clubs in Europe, was a perfect toil for Javier Arizmendi in front of goal but their partnership failed to yield a goal.


Chidi Odiah (CSKA Moskva), Obafemi Martins (Rubin Kazan): Super Eagles right back Chidi Odiah was an unused substitute for CSKA in their 1-1 away draw to Rubin Kazan who expectedly did not parade their Nigerian star Obafemi Martins who is currently on compassionate leave due to the death of his elder brother Ladi Martins who passed away recently.

 Odiah has played in only three games out of the 19 games CSKA Moskva has played so far in the Russian league while Martins is yet to feature for the club as the former Birmingham striker just returned to full fitness.

Obinna Nsofor (Locomotiv Moscow): Super Eagles winger Obinna Nsofor was not listed for action for Locomotiv against Volga Nyzhnyi at the Locomotiv Nizhniy Novgorod stadium on Sunday.

 He is yet to add to the single appearance he made against Krylya Sovetov last weekend when he replaced Dmitri Loskov on the hour mark for his debut.

Emmanuel Emenike (Spartak Moscow):

Super Eagles burly striker Emmanuel Emenike was an unused for Spartak Moskva in their 3-0 win over Anzhi Makhachkala at the Olimpiyskiy  Luzhniki stadium on Sunday. The former Karabukspor hit man replaced Ari Da Silva in the 76th minute of the encounter for his debut.


Macauley Chrisantus( FSV Frankfurt): On loan Nigerian striker Macauley Chrisantus played his first game for Frankfurt FSV when he replaced Sven Muller in the 80th minute of the encounter.

It was his first game for the Bundesliga 2 side since joining from Karlsruher in the summer.

Chinedu Obasi (TSG Hoffenheim): Fit again Super Eagles striker, Chinedu Obasi, played the entire duration of Hoffenheim’s lone goal victory over reigning Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Saturday. He has played all two games for the ‘Village Team’ so far in the current campaign and has bagged two yellow cards in as many matches.

Anthony Ujah (Mainz): Dream Team fringe striker Anthony Ujah made his Bundesliga debut for Mainz in their 2-1 away win over SC Freiburg at the Badenova stadium on Saturday. The former Lillestrom of Norway goal poacher replaced Elkin Soto in the 85th minute of the encounter. Mainz currently top the Bundesliga with six points after two games.


Joseph Akpala(Club Brugge): Super Eagles fringe striker Joseph Akpala played for 44 minutes on Saturday evening in Club Brugges’s narrow 1-0 win over OH Leuven at the Jan Breydelstadion.The game seen by 24,809 fans was the former Bendel Insurance star’s first game of the seson.

He scored seven goals last week in 28 matches in the Jupiler league. Akpala was brought on in the 46th minute in place of Bjorn Vieminckx.The win catapults Club Brugge to the top of the log after three games so far.

Kennedy Ugoala Nwanganga(Genk): Little known Nigerian striker Kennedy Nwanganga wasin action for 17 minutes in Genk’s 2-2 home draw against Zulte-Waregem at the Cristal Arena on Saturday.

It was the second game of the seson for the Nigerian who turns 21(years- old)on Monday.Nwanganga was borught in the 73rd minute in place of Thomas Buffel.


Elderson Echiejile(Braga): Coach Leonardo Jadim did not list Super Eagles left back,Elderason Uwa Echiejile in FC Braga’s 0-0 away draw to Rio Ave on Saturday.
