EDAFE EGBEDI JOINS DANISH CLUB
Posted: Oct 09, 2011
Nigeria youth international winger, Edafe Egbedi is to sign for a Danish first division side next week, according to his agent.
“He is due to sign a contract with Danish first division side, AG GUR FC, next week and has been using the whole of this week to sort out his visa,” said Egbedi’s agent, Hassan Egilnez.
Egilnez contacted the media officer of the Olympic team, Arafat Aliu, to explain why the player has not reported to their training camp in Ibadan.
“I have been making efforts to reach the chief coach but it has proved difficult and I do understand because he is a very busy man but that’s why I reached you the media officer,” disclosed the agent.
“I do hope coach Eguavoen would understand and give Edafe another chance because we are looking forward to him joining the team in their Portugal camp.”
The petite winger has been without a club since the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2009.
He shone at the recent U-20 World Cup in Colombia, scoring three goals, as Nigeria reached the last eight of the tournament.
Meanwhile, team spokesman Aliu disclosed that 29 players are presently in camp of the Dream Team V. This number will be pruned next week while some regular home-based players of the team would join up.

I think Nigerian players should go to a club where they will have a chance to play on a regular basis and develop their game. edafe is young and if he is starting from Denmark, he will have a regular playing chance and can rise to become a world class player unlike his contemporaries who are not commanding regular playing time in their European clubs
