Eagles Star Scores Against West Brom After Month Of Injury
Victor Anichebe (Everton); Osaze Odemwingie (Westbromwich Albion):
Fit- again Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe scored his first Premier League goal of the season with three minutes left to earn his side a 1-0 victory against West Brom who paraded his compatriot Osaze Odemwingie at the Hawthorns on Sunday. The win earned the Toffees their fourth away win of the campaign and allowed them to leapfrog Albion on the EPL table. It was Anichebe's first game of the season. He replaced Phil Neville in the 65th minute. For Osaze, it was his 15th game of the season, albeit scoring four goals and two yellow cards as against the six he had this time last season.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Blackburn Rovers):
Super Eagles rejected striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni scored a brace for Blackburn as they made nonsense of Sir Alex Ferguson's 70th birthday celebrations to claim a stunning 3-2 win at the end of an amazing contest with Manchester United. Goals from Ayegbeni Yakubu either side of the interval put the Premier League's bottom club into a surprise two-goal lead before United hit back through Dimitar Berbatov. It was the Yak's 13th goal of the current campaign in 17 appearances and his seventh against Manchester United in all competitions.
John Mikel Obi (Chelsea):
Injured Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi expectedly was not listed for Chelsea as they slumped to their third home league defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. He has so far played 14 games and has missed the Blues last two games.
Dickson Etuhu (Fulham):
Super Eagles midfielder Dickson Etuhu played his 14th game of the EPL season when he replaced Danny Murphy in the 65th minute for Fulham in their 1-1 away draw against Fulham at Carrow Road. He is yet to score a goal this term for the Cottagers.
Victor Moses (Wigan Athletic):
Super Eagles invitee Victor Moses' second goal of the season for Wigan helped Lactics to secure a point in their 2-2 away draw against Stoke City at the Britannia stadium on Saturday. So far, he has played in all 19 games for Roberto Martinez side.
Nwankwo Kanu (Portsmouth): Former Super Eagles skipper Nwankwo Kanu was not listed for action in Portsmouth's 1-1 away draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. The former Arsenal and West Brom attacker has so far played ten games for Pompey and has scored just one goal in the current season.
Seyi Olofinjana (Hull City):
Despite declaring that he is fit,Super Eagles midfielder Seyi olofinjana was not listed for action in Hull City's 1-0 loss away to Burnley at the Turf Moor stadium on Saturday. He is yet to feature for the Tigers this season.
Bartholomew Ogbeche (Middlesbrough): Former Super Eagles striker Bartholomew Ogbeche failed to score in his eight game for Middlesbrough in their 1-1 home draw against Peterborough United at the Riverside Stadium. He has scored only one goal since joining on a free transfer.
