BAYELSA COMMISSIONER: NIGERIANS BACK SIASIA
Posted: Oct 20, 2011
The support for coach Samson Siasia to continue in his position as the Super Eagles helmsman is becoming overwhelming by the day.
Already, some of the geo-political zones are rallying support for the coach who recently tendered unreserved apologies to the entire nation over the Super Eagles’ failed attempt to win the Nations Cup ticket slated for Gabon/Equatorial Guinea next year.
According to the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Sports, Opukiri Jones-ere, the South South, South East, North East and North Central geo-political zones have thrown their weight behind the former Flying Eagles gaffer.
“There are no sentiments attached to our stand on this national issue, except that these geo-political zones are toeing the path of wisdom as demonstrated by the Honourable Minister of Sports, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, who called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not to sack the embattled coach,” said the commissioner.
“As stakeholders in this matter, we view it that sacking of the coach might not be the possible solution to the problems confronting Nigerian football.
“We therefore appeal to the football authorities to allow the coach to continue with the re-building process that he began a few months ago, moreso, now that the World Cup qualifier will soon kick off in a few months’ time.
“We observe that employing a new coach now may be counter-productive, given the limited time at our disposal. Once again, we appeal to Nigerians to give Siasia a second chance, believing that he would have learnt his lessons in a bitter way.”

I HOPE HE HAS LEARNT HIS LESSONS, TO SHOW THAT HE SHOULD CALL DICKSON ETUHU AND HAVE A TALK WITH HIM, I AM NOT SAYING HE SHOULD USE HIM IF HE FEEL HE IS NOT IN HIS PLAN BUT AT LEAST GIVE HIM A SENSE OF BELONG AND RESPECT DUE TO THE WAY HE TREATED HIM AND SOME OTHER PLAYERS HE HAS IGNORED SINCE HE TOOK OVER BCOS EVERY DOG HAS IS DAY WHILE HE ACCEPT ENYEAMA BACK TO THE TEAM.
HE SHOULD ALSO TRY AND BUILD THE TEAM TO BE ONE HAPPY FAMILY AGAIN.
THE MINISTER AS SOME ELEMENT OF TRUTH IN HIS STATEMENT BUT I WILL STILL WISH THEY EMPLOY WESTERHOF AS A TECHNICAL ADVISER FOR HIM. THIS ISMY PERSONAL OPINION. GOODLUCK AND GOOD BLESS NIGERIA. -

i agree with the commissioner . Siasia should continue. We want a football team , not a gang of mercenaries.
Football is a gmae to be enjoyed not a do or die affair. Till today it is football that made Brazil popular and loved by many, not by the results they got, but the entertaining brand of football they showed the world, pleasing to the eye and the heart.
Till today the world is still talking about the Holland Team of 1974, because of their brand of football, Cruff is still a celeberity because of that, how many years ago, yet they were not the ones that won the world cup that year.
But they are the ones remebered till this date.
Siasia is doing that for the Super Eagle like he di with the flying eagles and olympic team. He should stay -

People like Amadi knows nothing close to football, for him and his type, qualifying for AFCON is what makes a good coach, forgetting that sometimes, in football you can play so good and yet you won't win. Sometime too, you can also play badly and still run away with a win due to mother luck.Samson needs our collective support and encouragement, and I am sure he is getting it and by the Grace of God, wise counsel will prevail at end of the day. We gave Westerhof 5yrs, let us give Siasia 5yrs contract and see. It is stupid to judge a coach with just 8games in charge or 8months in charge of a team. This is a national team, and not club side where you train and plan your tactics everyday with your players. This is why people like Mourinho said they will never coach a National Team side.

As i earlier stated, there are sponsored media campaign against siasia and also in his support, but this was not the case before his appointment, over 90% supported it. but we have to be objective on this. are we after the interest of siasia or after the nations football interest? are we sympathic to his course or the nations football? is there rooted sentiments in our judgements? everyone one of us should answer this individually. personally i prefer what benefits the nation's football. if siasia remain ll add value then is good, but if his stay ll keep this media war, players war and fans war raging, then it's better he help the nation avoid this divisive influences on their football and resign as a true patriot. one thing am definetly sure is that siasia cannot do better in a divided house, nobody would. he is a good coach no doubt but could be better. Frank Rikhard willingly resigned as holland coach when he could not win europe nations cup co-hosted with belguim, he felt sorry for failing his nation, and having taken stock and learnt few things, few years later he took up barcelona to win uefa champions league and double spanish league titles. who says siasia future is only in super eagles? let him prove his doubters wrong by trying something else, and believe me he ll be back a better coach.

Mr. Commissioner, this is purely a national interest not a Brotherly affairs or Bayelsa connection or whatever, you are too little to say anything about Siasia right now. Siasia has confessed that he made a grave mistake for fielding under-fit players (OSAZE & MIKEL) and yet we are talking bulshit here. From his confession is very clear that he was not having any tactical strategy to win the Guinea match, at such he has no vision to lead a national team, I think the best option is for NFF to redeployed him to the age grades level, so he can build up ideas good enough to lead the Super Eagles in the future.

I am disappointed with Nigerians especially those who can not be objective for once but have vowed to die with the flame of sentiment. That is exactly what is killing Nigeria, and nobody seems to be thinking. I assume that for anyone to have the privilege of commenting on this website, such a fellow must be enlightened and privileged, and if these are the enlightened Nigerians writing such arrant nonsense, then the future is bleak I must confess. What future is there for people who can not think? or who can not be objective? or who do not appreciate good reasoning? or who are blinded by emotion?
Now tribal sentiment is coming in from people that should be upright in their assertion and judgement. Mr. Commissioner, you are a disappointment. That the president comes from Bayelsa is not a reason to install a failure on the stool of SE coach. The terms were clearly stated in his contract, the terms were not ambiguous or are they? He failed, clear and simple, and there is no justification for NFF to retain him. I was an advocate of that before, but with the recent development, Siasia must be sack for his polarizing effect. And contrary to your opinion, Nigerians are unanimous in this...Siasia must be sacked even if he is GEJ's brother. And to those who fuel discord through religious and tribal sentiment and emotion, please desist from it as it is an ill wind! It is not good for any country and people that wanted development and civilization. Mr. Commissioner...you are really a politician made in Nigeria. -

Politics should stay out of our sports. Geo-political support for Siasia should not sway NFF in taking the right decision for the overall interest of Nigeria Football. If Siasia is not ripe to handle Super Eagles, then he is not ripe and so should not be imposed on us in the name of belonging to the same geo-political zone with our President. Our President should not allow himself to be rubished so that he will not be an excuse for failure in future should Siasia be allowed to continue.

How many Nigerians support your talkative, boastful Siasia. He was beating his chest and beating teams on the pages of newspapers, that's my grouse with him. He has taken our football 25 whopping years back and should be sacked. He want's to be forgiven now, he didn't learn to forgive some of his star players. I advice him to go back to coaching school so he can upgrade himself in the coaching business.

Hon. commissioner, the best thing that can happen to Nigerian football is for SAMSON YEBOAH SIASIA to resign. He has destroyed our footbal and put a strangle hold on it, with the collusion of the PRESIDENT he can be forced on us again. The only way you can help is to provide him a job in your ministry, pls remember what he did to the Ocean city boys, exactly what he did to JUTH that is what he has done to our beloved Eagles. If we are not putting sentiment apart , you would have made him the minister of sports. Siasia is a good boy i will recommend him to you sir, and you know how popular he is, it will be better if he go back home. The new FIFA ranking will testify to his productivity, that he has improve Nigerian football in the last 1 yr.
