EGBEDI: I’M LIVING MY DREAM

Flying Eagles forward Edafe Egbedi has described his joining Danish club AGF Aarhus as a dream come true after being without a club for a long time.
How do you feel playing in Europe?
It is great experience. My dream has come has come true. It has been my dream to play in Europe and I am happy I am here now.

You have been without a club since the 2009 U17 World Cup. What was going through your mind ever since?
I wish I was playing at a club then, but I was not feeling too bad because I knew the right time will come which is now.

You have begun training with your club ahead of the resumption of the season, how has it been?
The first training was difficult, very hard but good for me. I am adapting to training and my fitness is improving. I love the way training has been so far. I am fully fit now, you know I am not new to training as it has been part of me from Nigeria.

What can you say about your club in general?
It is a good team. I love it here. It is a team with a lot of young players. The atmosphere is lively. I am comfortable here and I am sure I will be great here. It is a team who promote young players.

What are your chances of making the first team?
They are very bright. I have been doing well in training so far. I am following what the coach wants and he has said good things to me. I am sure if I keep working hard that will not be difficult for me to achieve.

How has it been for you since you arrived?
It has been wonderful, I had a good welcome and the coach is a good man who has been encouraging me. He has boosted my confidence with his advice and talks.

What do you hope to achieve here?
First, I want to pin down a regular shirt in the first team after which I want to score many goals to help the team and myself. Winning medals and trophies are also on my mind.

How disappointed were you not to win the FIFA U20 World Cup in Colombia last year?
We were all very disappointed. I felt really bad because we left for Colombia with very high hope of winning the competition and we were doing well before we crashed out.
I now hope to achieve something with Nigeria on a bigger stage.
