Galliani Reveals New Serie A Champions
Are Desperate To Sign Eagles Defender
FOOTBALL:
Adriano Galliani has confirmed Milan “want to sign Taye Taiwo, even without an EU passport.”
The Marseille full-back will be out of contract at the end of the season and has long been associated with a free transfer to San Siro.
“We do want to sign Taiwo, even without an EU passport,” Vice-President Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.
The Nigerian defender has had a splendid campaign for Marseille in Ligue 1 and scored the winner in the French Cup Final.
AC milan coach,Massimiliano Allegri had recently hinted that the Nigerian left back could be a Rossoneri after revealing the Serie A giants have pencilled him down as a possible summer target.
Allegri said at a briefing that Taiwo has been discussed as a target for the summer, but maintained it is not yet sealed.
“We only talked about defence and about (Philippe) Mexes (Roma defender) – everybody knows it – and Taiwo, who’s a very interesting player and could be helpful for us,” said Allegri.
“We just talked about him, nothing is done, but he could be an important option for us.”
Former Arsenal midfielder,Mathieu Flamini who now dorns the red and black shirt of AC Milan believes Taiwo will be a good signing for his club.
Flamini came through the ranks at Marseille and rates the club and its players highly.
“He would be a great addition,” Flamini told Mediaset. “He is physically strong and gets forward a lot without neglecting the defensive part of the game.”
There were even rumours the Super Eagle has signed a three year deal with the new Serie A kings.
