Eagles Star Sure Of Victory
Super Eagles forward, Obinna Nsofor is confident Nigeria’s opponent in Sunday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier, Ethiopia will be defeated at the end of 90 minutes.
The West Ham of England star who has been sweating it out in training under the watchful eyes of coach Samson Siasia, ahead of the game said the team is in high spirit and battle ready to ensure Nigeria pick the three points at stake.
Speaking from the team’s camp in Abuja, Obinna said the competition for shirts is tough with no player having any guarantee of being picked to play, aside some older and more experienced players, a situation he believes is good for the team.
“We are ready to win well against Ethiopia because this is a match that we need nothing else other than victory,” begins the former Inter Milan of Italy forward.
“We have been training twice daily to perfect strategies and also acclimatize well ahead of the game.
“We are in high spirits and no player is sure of automatic shirt except skipper Yobo and Odemwingie who are now veterans.
“Every other player would have to work hard to win a shirt and I think the competition is good for the team,” said Obinna, while adding that whoever gets the coaches’ nod to play would give his best for the team’s cause.
“We all know what is at stake and anyone that gets to play would be ready to give his very best for Nigeria to win,” concludes the player, who missed Super Eagles friendly game against Sierra Leone due to injury last month.
Nigeria is currently placed second in Group B and need to beat Ethiopia to further brighten her chances of qualifying for the 2012 African Cup of Nations slated for Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
