SHITTU HAILS TAIWO REUNION
Posted: Jan 28, 2012
Out-of-favour Super Eagles and Queens Park Rangers defender, Danny Shittu has expressed his delight to have his Nigerian compatriot, Taiye Taiwo, team up with him in England.
Shittu believes Taiwo’s arrival at QPR in a loan deal from Serie A giants, AC Milan, is the right move for his colleague who is seeking to play regular top flight football rather than warm the bench in Italy.
The former Watford and Bolton defender said the English Premier League would suit Taiwo better and his coming to Loftus Road would be of mutual benefit to the player and the club.
“It is great to see my friend and Nigerian team mate, Taiye Taiwo at QPR,” begins the player popularly known as Big Dan.
“I’m sure Taiye will bring a lot to the team and help the club’s push to stay above relegation.
“He is a great guy with great mentality. Taiwo is a fighter and he’s got what it takes to succeed in England,” said the former Hull City defender.
Taiwo’s move to England ended months of speculations regarding the future of the Super Eagles left wing back, following his inability to tie down a regular shirt in the star-studded Rossonerri side.
The power-shooting defender enjoyed regular and first team action for the six years he spent in France with Olympique Marseille, before moving to Italy last season.
Taiwo’s arrival in England swells the number of Nigerian top stars who are making waves in the English Premier League.
