Try out players for recruitment Coach Allen Says Shooting Will Bounce Back
Premier League side and darling team of Ibadan fans, Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC of Ibadan is currently handing out trials to players with a view to reinforcing the team as the week 9 transfer window blossoms.
Complete Sports checks reveal that most of the players being given a look-in by coach Festus Allen are mainly from within just as only a handful of them will be lucky enough to be selected.
Shooting Stars still have about six slots to fill their fill to bring their season’s squad list to the maximum number of 35 as required by NPL.
“We are looking from within in our search for reinforcement”, Festus Allen, head coach of the Oluyole Warriors told Complete Sports.
“There are some players we are already looking at but I cannot say for sure how many of them that will be selected at the end of the day.
“As a team, we are not bad at all and we have not really done badly so far in the seaon. Surely we will bounce back as the season progresses”, Allen who turned rookie Bukola Babes of Ilorin to a giant killing side in the 2010/2011 season said.
Allen will lead the Ibadan squad away to Lobi Stars in a Premier League week 11 fixture this weekend without inspirational midfielder, Azeez Awakaen who picked an ankle injury in Minna against Tornadoes in a week 5 game.
“It was a terrible two-leg challenge on him but the offender escaped with just a yellow card. It should have been a red card”, Allen lamented bitterly.
Shooting Stars returned to the winning ways with a 1-0 defeat of Ocean Boys in a week 10 match in Ibadan on Sunday.
“It was a good victory for us but I must say that the 1-0 score-line is not a true reflection of the game. We dominated from start to finish, created so many scoring chances but could convert only one”, the 3SC gaffer rued.
