By BAMIDELE BOLUWAJI
Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi is confident that the on-going rebuilding process embarked upon by the technical crew of the senior national team will yield positive results at the end of the whole exercise.
The former Everton of England forward who spoke to Complete Sports before the Super Eagles departed for Liberia for Wednesday’s international friendly game said the home-based players are gradually coming up and learning fast.
“This is a team we can all see for ourselves. We knew how the players were before coming to the national team and we know how they are now. They have shown that they are ready to learn and with the programme on ground for the team, I am sure that very soon, the world will see the real talents in the team,” says the former Nassarawa United coach.
“When you look at the friendly games they have played, you will understand the progress in the team and more so, the response of the players has been very positive.”
Amokachi also expect an improved performance from the players against Rwanda in February 29 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier holding in Kigali.
“Rwanda match is very important to us and the players know that fact. It is our belief that the friendly games played so far have helped them to improve their games but we expect more from them when they play against Rwanda.”
The ex-international popularly called ‘Da Bull’ however told Complete Sports that the team is going for nothing short of victory in the away game.
“Our target is to go there and pick the three points at stake and we will do our best to make sure we achieve that in Kigali.”
