GATEWAY WIN SO EMOTIONAL - SAMUEL

City of David head coach, Abimbola Samuel, was full of emotions after his team defeated Gateway FC 3-0 in Sunday's National division 1 league encounter at the Teslim Balogun stadium.

A brace from Segun Adeniyi and another from Jackson Emmanuel ensured COD returned to winning ways after they lost by the same marging to Bayelsa United last Thursday.

Abimbola who parted ways with the Ogun State based outfit last season made a quick return to football and for the first time as an opposition manager, said his overall happiness at progress of his new team overrode the emotions of facing Gateway FC.

"I am very, very happy because we won and because we are proving to be the best team in our group despite the loss to Bayelsa United last Thursday," the former Flying Eagles assistant coach said.

“I'm glad my players still appreciate the impact I made while I was with the team," he added.

"I am not happy because my ex-players lost, I am not happy because Gateway supporters went home sad. I am happy with our happiness, not with their unhappiness."
