Says Former U-17 Star, Osanga King
Former Nigeria youth international, King Osanga, who joined French Ligue 1 side Sochaux during the winter transfer window, has expressed his delight with the move. He has also set his targets at his new club.
How does it feel joining Sochaux after a long search for another club?
It is a great honour for me to be part of this club. What I saw here makes me feel happy and know I am at the right place. I am looking forward to my debut here. I have put the disappointment in Tunisia behind me.
What will fire you on at Sochaux?
The records my compatriots who have been here before me set can only spur me on at this club. They
have all made a name for themselves here, which I must be able to reach, if not surpass. Here they speak very well about Wilson Oruma, Rabiu Afolabi and Brown Ideye, that is what I want also when I’m here.
Are you homesick?
Yes to an extent, but I think I hope to keep in touch with Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and John Utaka to make me feel more at home even though the atmosphere at Sochaux is homely already so no cause for alarm.
What about the French language?
That won’t be any problem, I will learn it with time.
What are your targets as a Sochaux player?
My main target now is to secure a regular shirt in the team, after which I will want to stamp my authority in the league and score goals with assists to help my team. I know it won’t be easy coming from a different league but being a professional, I have to adapt and work hard here.
What should the team officials and fans expect from you?
I believe in myself. I know the club have a good team to help me become a better player. I will do my best to make the better team than I met them.
Did you seek anybody's advice before joining your new club?
Not really. I know French league is top league and Sochaux are not a small team and the fact that Nigerians have played there before made me feel good when the offer came.
How will you describe this loan move from Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia?
It was a dream comes true. I have always wanted to play in a major European league, and French league is one of them, I am here on loan but want to make it permanent.
Are you nursing any thoughts of being a part of the Super Eagles again?
I am not thinking about it that much, all I want to do is to concentrate on my career here and I am sure now that I am in Europe and if doing well, the coach won’t have any choice than to give me chance. I won’t force it, but get it on merit.
