KESHI CHARGES UCHE: GIVE ME GOALS IN RWANDA
Posted: Feb 21, 2012
Super Eagles Head coach Stephen Keshi has tasked back-to-form Granada FC of Spain forward, Ike Uche, to replicate his current form and score for Nigeria in next week's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Kigali against Rwanda.
Uche scored two goals against Real Sociedad on Sunday evening to help his team to a 4-1 victory and coach Keshi expressed his happiness with the striker's form.
“I feel happy that Ik Uche scored two goals this week which means we did not make any mistake by including him in the list of foreign based players invited for the Rwanda game coming up next week,” begins Keshi.
“That performance shows that he is ready for the game in Kigali, but one thing I will tell him is that he should not just do the scoring over there alone. He should also come here and score for Nigeria. We need such goals from him mostly against Rwanda."
We all know what Ik Uche can do, but I still want him to do more, mostly, for the Super Eagles," Keshi charges.
Keshi also urged other players invited for the crucial match to be focused and put in a 100% performance.
“I want all the other players to be focused and have it at the back of their minds that this is a service to our nation, which means they must prepare very well for the game because we need to win.
Meanwhile, the 11 foreign-based players invited for the game are expected to report at the Bolton White Apartment Camp of the team in Abuja on Monday.
