Rwanda Change Match Venue For Eagles Game
Posted: Feb 21, 2012
The 2013 Nations Cup qualifier between Rwanda and Nigeria will not be played at the Amahoro Stadium, but a smaller facility also in the capital city of Kigali.
This much was disclosed to Complete Sports by the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Musa Amadu, who revealed that he has been officially communicated by his counterpart from Rwanda FA,Michel Gasingwa that the February 29 match will not be played at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali.
The match will now be staged at the Stade Regional de Kigali because of renovation work going on at the 30,000 capacity Amahoro Stadium where the Super Eagles managed a 1-1 draw in 2005 during the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign which greatly accounted for Nigeria's inability to make the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Barrister Amadu also confirmed that the kick-off time of 3.30pm local time, remains unchanged thereby justifying the change in Eagles training scheduled to 1 pm.
He disclosed that arrangement had almost been completed for the team to fly direct via a chartered Air Nigeria flight to Kigali on Monday February 27, to arrive on Tuesday morning for the match on Wednesday.
