Osaze Compounds Liverpools EPL Woes

Aluko on fire in Scotland; Utaka, Ogude, Okachi, Apam, Onuoha, Suswan see yellow
Mikel shines for Chelsea, Obasi plays 90 minutes for Schalke; Joel Obi, Ukah missing
John Mikel Obi (Chelsea): Super Eagles midfielder John Obi Mikel came on for Oriol Romeu in the 65th minute in Chelsea’s drab 0-0 draw against Arsenal at The Emirates on Saturday.
Mikel was one of the eight players who started in the Blues’ 1-0 win last week Tuesday in the Champions League but were kept on the bench by interim manager Roberto Di Matteo with eye on the reverse fixture of the Champions League clash with Barcelona. It was Mikel’s 20th EPL game of the season. Mikel has now played a total of 1,209 minutes this term, starting 14 of the matches he played for the West Londoners. He aided the defence with some vital blocks to deny the Gunners from scoring late in the game.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni (Blackburn Rovers): Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni played for 76 minutes on Saturday at Ewood Park in Blackburn Rovers 2-0 win over Norwich City. The bulky all action-player was invovled in the build up leading to Rovers’ second goal by Mauro Formica in the 41st minute, four minutes after seeing his acrobatic effort crashing against the bar. Anthony Modeste replaced the former Portsmouth and Middlesbrough hitman who has scored 16 times in the EPL this season in 27 matches.
Dickson Etuhu (Fulham), Victor Moses (Wigan): Super Eagles midfielder Dickson Etuhu was an unused substitute in Fulham’s 2-1 win over Wigan on Saturday at Craven Cottage. The Nigerian international has played 20 EPL games this season, starting nine of them and was a subtitute who came onto the pitch or was substituted on eleven occasions. Etuhu has not scored a goal this season, albeit he was on the scoresheet twice last season. He has bagged four yellow cards so far.
Victor Moses played in the entire duration of the game but was not on the scoresheet for the Latics who are running a battle against relegation from the top flight. The Kaduna - born winger thus played his 35th EPL game with just three matches to go for the Roberto Martinez men who have been dubbed the ‘giant killers’ of late for defeating the big teams of the Premier League of late.
Shola Ameobi (Newcastle United): Manager Alan Pardew introduced Shola Ameobi in the 69th minute of Newcastle United’s 3-0 home win over Stoke City at the Sports Direct Arena on Saturday. Ameobi whose international career is unsure replaced on-fire striker Pappis Demba Cisse.
It was his 24th EPL game of the season. The Kabba, Kogi State - born striker has started in just eight matches and has two goals to his credit.
The Tyneside club is the Premier League’s best team in the last five matches with five consecutive wins on the bounce.
Taye Taiwo, Nedum Onuoha (QPR): Super Eagles left back Taye Taiwo was in good form on Saturday at Loftus Road, home ground of QPR.
The on-loan defender from AC Milan played for 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Tottenham Hot spurs on Saturday which greatly helped Mark Hughes’ side’s quest to escape relegation and ultimately dents Spurs’ chances to get back into the top four on the EPL log.
Taiwo has now played 12 times since his January move. He has missed three matches but has one goal to his credit.
Nedum Onuoha also played very well in the game, his 13th of the season but was yellow-carded in the 75th minute. He played for 90 minutes.
Osaze Odemwingie (West Brom): Super Eagles striker Peter Osaze Odemwingie scored his tenth goal of the season 15 minutes from time for West Bromwich Albion in their 1-0 away win over Liverpool at Anfield.
Osaze who has so far played 28 games for the Baggies this season yesterday became the first West Brom player in 27 years to score a double figure in two successive topflight seasons for the the club.
Victor Anichebe (Everton): Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe was benched for the entire duration at old Trafford as Everton blew the Premier League title race wide open by forcing Manchester United to an incredible 4-4 draw at Old Trafford. He has so far scored five games in 11 appearances this season.
Anthony Ujah (Mainz 05): Former U-23 invitee, Anthony Ujah, for the umpteenth time was not listed in Mainz’s goalless draw against Wolfsburg at the Coface Arena on Friday night. The drab game which saw both sides wasting several goal scoring chances would have been his 13th Bundesliga game of the season. He has scored twice so far.
Macaulay Chrisantus (FSV Frankfurt): Former Golden Eaglets striker and top scorer at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Macaulay Chrisantus played for only five minutes in Saturday in FSV Frankfurt’s 1-1 home draw against Greuther Furth. Chrisantus replaced Zafer Yelen in the 85th minute of the match which was his 24th of the season. Macaulay Chrisantus has scored eight goals this season.
Chinedu Obasi (Schalke 04): Super Eagles forward Chinedu Obasi was paraded for all 90 minutes in Schalke 04's 1-1 away draw against Bundesliga relegation battlers, Augsburg at the SGL Arena on Sunday. It was Obasi tenth appearance and scored once for Schalke this season.
John Utaka (Montpellier): Out of favour Super Eagles forward John Chukwudi Utaka played from start to finish in Montpellier’s 1-0 home win at home against Valenciennes on Saturday. The former Rennes striker was yellow-carded in the 83rd minute of the game, his fifth of the season in which he has played 31 times in the Ligue 1, starting in 30 of them. The skilful striker has notched up five goals this season for the team now certain to play in the Champions League.
Onyekachi Apam (Rennes): Super Eagles defender Onyekachi Apam was yellow-carded in the 79th minute on Saturday in Stade Rennes’ 1-0 away win over lowly Brest.
The former OGC Nice has now bagged four yellow cards, with one of them culminating in red card. He was in action for 90 minutes and has now played nine times this season. The former Flying Eagles star has played a total of 693 minutes of club football this season.
Vincent Enyeama (Lille): Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who has handed a transfer request at Lille Metropole was not listed in Lille’s 2-0 away win over Dijon on Saturday. Enyeama has not played a goal in the Ligue 1 this season.
Elderson Echiejile (Braga): Super Eagles left back Elderson Uwa Echiejile played for 46 minutes on Friday in Sporting Braga’s 1-1 away draw against Pacos de Ferreira.
Echiejile was substituted by Portugal superstar Nuno Gomes who scored Braga’s goal in the 80th minute, 53 minutes after their opponents scored through Vitor. Echiejile has played 23 times in the Portuguese League this season, scoring four times and bagging six yellows. He has scored one goal and played a total of 1,982 minutes so far.
John Ogu (Uniao de Leira): Nigeria’s John Ogu was in action for 57 minutes on Saturday in Uniao’s 3-2 away loss to Vitoria Cuimaraes at the Estadio Don Afonson Stadium. Ogu was replaced by Sweden’s Niklas Barkroth which was his 14th of the season. He has three goals to his credit so far.
Terna Suswan (Vitória Setúbal): Former U-23 defender Terna Suswan played for 73 minutes before being replaced by Neca in Vitória Setúbal's lone goal defeat to Feirense on Sunday. Suswan who was yellow carded in the 46th minute has so far played 11 games for the eight placed team on the log bagging three yellow cards.
Kalu Uche(Espanyol): Super Eagles attacking midfielder Kalu Uche was replaced by Walter Pandiani in the 82nd minute in Espanyol's 3-1 loss to Atlético Madrid Vicente Calderon on Sunday. The former Bordeaux midfielder has now played 11 La Liga matches this season scoring five times.
Ikechukwu Uche,Odion Ighalo (Granada): Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche played all 90 minutes for Granada on Sunday against his old club Getafe as they took a significant step towards survival with a 1-0 victory over Getafe - their first win in four games to move eight points clear of the relegation zone. He was replaced in the 70th minute by Alexandre Geijo. His compatriot and former U-23 striker Jude Odion Ighalo was benched for the entire duration of the encounter but has played 20 games albiet scoring three goals in his debut season.
Sunday Stephen (Numancia): One-cap Super Eagles midfielder Sunday Stephen played for 45 minutes before he was substituted by Spain’s Juanjo in Numancia’s 2-1 away loss to Huesca on Saturday. It was the 24th game of the season for the former Spain U-20 international.
Joel Obi (Inter Milan): Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi was not listed for action for Inter Milan as they were held on for a goalless draw against Fiorentina in Tuscany stadium on Sunday. Obi has so far played 23 games in the Serie A for the Nerazurri who are seventh in the standings and five points behind Lazio who also played a draw against Lecce.
Christian Obodo (Lecce): Forgotten Super Eagles midfielder Christian Obodo was an unused substitute for Lecce in their 1-1 home draw against Lazio on Sunday. The Udinese loanee has so far chalked up 21 appearances this term providing only one assist.
Nnamdi Oduamadi,Ebagua Osareimen(Torino): Former U-23 forward Nnamdi Oduamadi was not listed in Torino's 0-0 draw against Bari on Saturday.
The fleet-footed forward's last game for Torino was on March 12 against Hellas Verona which his team lost 4-1. He has played 10 times this season for his club. Ebagua Osareimen was also not listed for the game.
Emmanuel Emenike (Spartak Moscow): Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike failed to add to his 12 goal tally for Spartak Moscow as they lost 3-0 to Anzhi Makhachkala at the Luzhniki stadium on Sunday.He has so far played in 18 league ganes this season for Spartak Moscow.
Obinna Nsofor (Lokomotiv Moscow), Obafemi Martins (Rubin Kazan): Super Eagles striker cum winger Victor Obinna Nsofor played for 74 minutes before being replaced by Vladislav Ignatyev in Lokomotiv Moscow's goalless draw against Rubin Kazan who did not parade their Nigerian import Obafemi Martins on Sunday. The match was Nsofor's 12th of the season. He has scored just once while Martins has also scored once in seven appearances for the former Russian champions.
Ahmed Musa(CSKA Moscow): Super Eagles winger Ahmed Musa was an unused sub in CSKA Moscow's 1-0 loss away to Dinamo Moscow at the Arena Khimki on Saturday. He has played seven times this season,with a total of 401 minutes of action to his credit. Sekou Oliseh played for 14 minutes in the game.
Michael Uchebo, Uche Nwofor, Alex Nkume(VVV Venlo): Former Flying Eagles star Michael Okechukwu Uchebo played all 90 minutes and failed to score in Venlo's 2-1 loss away to AZ Alkmaar at the Alkmaar stadium on Sunday. The former Enugu Rangers has scored twice in 23 matches. Uchebo's teammate, Uche Nwofor, came off the bench to replace Brian Linssen in the 85th minute. Nwofor has now played 23 times in the Eredivisie this season and has five goals to his credit.
Furthermore, Alex Emenike Nkume was not listed for the match. Nkume has played nine matches this term for the team.
Brown Ideye, Haruna Lukman Yussuf Ayila (Dynamo Kiev): Super Eagles striker Brown failed to add to his 12 goal tally in the Ukrainian league for Dynamo Kiev as they pipped Volyn by a lone goal. Ideye who has played 25 games for Dynamo Kiev was replaced in the 55th minute by Carlos Corrêa. the duo of Haruna Lukman and Yusuf Ayila were not listed for action.
Dele Adeleye, Jamiu Alimi, Fernando Adi (Tavriya): The duo of Jamiu Alimi and Fernando Adi were the only Nigerians who were paraded by their club Tavriya on Saturday in the team's 3-1 defeat in the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk at the Donbass Arena on Saturday. It was Alimi's seventh game of the season while Adi made his sixth league appearance in the game. The trio of Mohammed Aliyu,Sani Kaita and Abdul Afolabi were not listed for the game while Dele missed the game due to suspension.
Sone Aluko (Scotland): Former Flying Eagles winger Omatsone Aluko scored Rangers' first goal in a 3-0 bashing of Heart of Midlothian at the Tynecastle Stadium on Saturday. The 29th minute goal against the Edinburg side was Aluko's seventh of the season in Scottish 17 Premier League appearances this season. The Egypt 2009 star has started 15 of the matches he has played in,chalking up a total of 1,341 minutes in total since the start of this campaign and has one yellow card to his name.
Onome Sodje (Floriana): Younger brother of former Eagles defender Efe Sodje; Onome, played for 90 minutes in Floriana's 1-0 loss to Hibernians at the Ta'Qali Stadium on Saturday. It was the sixth game of the season for the 24 year-old defender who has started in five of those appearances for the team that have been alternating wins and defeats this season,scoring five goals so far this term.
Fegor Ogude (Valerenga): Super Eagles fringe midfielder Fegor Ogude played for 90 minutes in Valerenga's 2-0 loss at home to Sogndal at the Ulevaal Stadium on Saturday. The defensive midfielder was yellow-carded in the 66th minute of the game which was his second of the season in four matches in the Eliteserien League.
Uche Anyaora (Haugesund): Nigeria's Uche Anyaora played for just one minute when he replaced Michael Haukas in the 89th minute on Saturday in Haugesund's 2-1 home win over Brann Bergen that paraded Nigeris's duo of Kim Ojo and Chukwuma Akabueze. Ojo scored Brann's goal in the 41st minute and played for 90 minutes but 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup star Chukwuma 'Bentley' Akabueze was replaced in the 89th minute by Cameroon's El Hadji Baye Oumar Niasse. Anyaora has played four times this season while the duo of Ojo and Akabueze have both played five times each. Ojo's goal was his second of the season so far.
Princewill Okachi, Ugo Ukah (Widzew Lodz): One-cap Super Eagles defender Ugo Ukah was not listed in Widzew Lodz's goalless draw against Cracovia Krakow over the weekend.However Ukah's compatriot Princewill Okachi played for 33 minutes when he replaced Krzysztof Ostrowski in the 57th minute on Saturday. Ukah has played 20 games this season but it was Okachi's 25th of the season.
