Enyimba Hammer Rangers 2-0 go joint top on table

3SC Whip Wikki 2-0 In Ibadan As Dolphins Humble ABS 2-1

Two goals, one in each half by two former Rangers players helped Enyimba to a comfortable 2-0 dispatching of the Coal City Flying Antelopes, Rangers in a bitter Oriental War at Aba Stadium on Sunday.

The game which proved a perfect advertisement for the domestic top flight lived up to its billings as Razaq Adegbite handed the home side the lead following a goal mouth scramble that resulted from Uwadiegwu Ugwu’s freekick near the area.

Ugwu, a left wing back who was part of Augustine Eguavoen’s U-23 national team doubled the lead in the second period but was sent off after he pulled off his shirt which earned him a second yellow card and subsequently the marching order.

The home side completed the remaining half an hour with 10 men but held tenaciously to their lead till the final whistle.

Enyimba are thus with 46 points, same as Rangers but trail the Coal City Antelopes on top of the log by inferior goals difference.

In Port Harcourt, defending Champions, Dolphins,m drubbed Abubakar Bukola Saraki, ABS, 2-0 to move to the 4th position on the table with 42 points, just one point behind Kano Pillars who are third with 43 points following a hard fought 1-0 win over Warri Wolves on Saturday in Kano.

Shooting Stars of Ibadan continued their recovery after a sloppy start with a deserved 2-0 thrashing of Wikki Tourists Saturday at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.

The Victory earned the Oluyole Warriors the maximum points to move to the 8th position on the log with 39 points.

However, Lobi Stars caused the major upset of the day with a 2-1 away win over struggling Ocean Boys at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.

The home defeat condemned the home side to relegation zone with 27 points after 26 matches, occupying the 19th position on the table.
