KESHI SEEKS OSAZE TALKS OVER WEDDING PLANS
Posted: May 16, 2012
Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, has exclusively told Complete Sports that he will be opening talks with West Brom top scorer, Osaze Odemwingie, who is expected to tie the nuptial knots early June over his availability for the team's demanding schedules in June.
The coach who expressed his delight over Osaze's decision to quit bachelorhood this summer also believes that the striker’s wedding plans shouldn't be a reason for the former Lokomotiv Moscow player not to report to camp if invited.
The Eagles will host Namibia in a World Cup qualifier on June 2 and a week later travel to take on Malawi in yet another World Cup qualifier. And on June 16, they will tackle Rwanda in the second leg match of a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match. The first leg of that encounter ended 1-1 in Kigali.
"I don't think Osaze's wedding plans will be a problem at all," the former Mali and Togo coach began in an interview with Complete Sports.
"He's a professional and if he's coming for national team assignments, he knows what it takes to be there. He's not the only player that will be getting married this summer. Kolo Toure is also doing so, but we will try to find out from him. I'm happy for him, but I will still call him to sample his opinion. It's even good for him and marriage will enable him to concentrate more on his game. We will however do everything possible to ensure that the best players are invited for all our crucial games ahead."
Meanwhile, Keshi has informed Complete Sports that there will be no new faces in the squad for the June qualifiers, adding that the duo of Emmanuel Emenike and Brown Ideye are only the ones being considered for a recall to the national team.
"The new players that will be making the team are not different from the ones you know, but all I can tell you now is that Brown Ideye and Emmanuel Emenike may be considered. I will be meeting with my team on Wednesday (today) to finalise the team list to be released. We are still re-building the team but we need to win all the three games next month to start the World Cup campaign on a bright note. All the home-based players are already in camp and we will have a full house for training tomorrow," he concluded.
