Obuh Ecstatic Over Blue Angels Form
Sharks’ coach, John Obuh has identified his side’s 3-1 win over ABS FC on Matchday 20 of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) as the turning point for the club this season.
Goals from Gomo Onduku, Thompson Stowe and Bright Ejike gave the Blue Angels a stunning 3-1 success against the Kabir Dogo-tutored side at the Ilorin Township Stadium on Wednesday.
The victory represents Sharks’ first win on the road this season and Obuh is confident that the victory over the Ilorin club is the tonic required by Sharks to go on and achieve greater things this season.
“It was an important three points for us but I wasn’t really surprised because we have been playing excellent football this season. The boys played to instructions and we deserved the win.”
The win over ABS represented a drastic turn around for Sharks, with Obuh pointing out that the 5-0 defeat suffered against Gombe United on Matchday
6 taught the players serious lessons.
“That loss to Gombe United taught the players serious lessons and since then, we have really improved as a team. We have achieved a turning point and will now go on from strength to strength,” he said.
The experienced gaffer also went on to reflect on the recent decision of the league’s governing body to compel the club to play their subsequent matches behind closed doors.
“The players (of Sharks) are experienced so I expect them to give their best irrespective of whether or not the fans will be there to see our games,” he said.
