Rising Humble Naze Millionaires 1-0 To Keep Hope Alive
Premier League giants, Sunshine Stars of Akure, Heartland of Owerri and Warri Wolves were humbled by their hosts in rescheduled matches decided on Wednesday.
In Ado-Ekiti, bottom of the table Rising Stars dealt a 1-0 blow to Naze Millionaires in a week 26 match. Adamu Yahaya’s 81st minute strike proved decisive as the Federation Cup holders returned to base empty handed after holding the hosts until nine minutes to regulation time.
In Hadeija, hosts, Jigawa Golden Stars made their home advantage count with a 2-1 win over Warri Wolves.
But Wolves Technical Director, Edema Fuludu complained bitterly over the state of the pitch, saying it is only good for horse race.
“That my team lost 1-2 to Jigawa is no news at all”, the former Nigeria international said. “What is news is that a Premier League match is played on a pitch not fit for a horse race.
“It is a shame that 22 years after pro football was introduced in Nigeria we’re still playing on such a field”. In Minna, Sunshine Stars were humbled 2-0 by hosts, Niger Tornadoes with Gwarza Iloliom and Kingsley Odoh scoring both goals in 7th and 57th minutes respectively.
