Ahly Killers Set To Inflict More Woes On Kwara United In Ilorin Showdown
Kwara United will attempt to shrug off their away defeat at the hands of Kaduna United, when they return to the Ilorin International stadium, The Afonja Warriors have also lost their last three games and need a win to get back on track against second placed Kano Pillars.
Last weekend’s 2-1 away defeat to Kaduna United compounded the Ilorin based outfit woes and they are just four points off the relegation zone.
Pillars that defeated league leaders, Rangers International of Enugu 2-0 in Kano last week, go into the tie looking for their first away win of the season which could see them topple Rangers at the summit.
The Ahly killer however faces a daunting task here as they have not won in their last six visits to the Ilorin Township Stadium.
Kwara United have also won five of their last home games but the fact that they lost their last against local rivals, Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club would give the visitors hope of leaving Ilorin unscathed.
Pillars Coach Baba Ganaru foresees a very difficult afternoon for his lads but is confident they can weather the storm.
“We are good enough to be champions of the league this season after our win against Rangers, but we need not be over confident because we still trail our leaders by three points.
“This weekend encounter against Kwara United will be very crucial, knowing that a win here will help us in the fight for silver ware this season,” Baba Ganaru stated.
