Taiwo Speaks on Benfica Link
Posted: May 28, 2012
Rejected Super Eagls defender,Taye Taiwo says he is open to a move to Portuguese side,Benfica if an offer is made.
The Nigerian who ended his six-month loan spell at English Premier League side,Queens Park Rangers early this month after failing to make the grade at deposed Italian Serie A champion,AC Milan following a free transfer from French Lique 1 side,Marseille last summer has been linked with Benfica who were thougt to have won the signature of the former Lobi Stars of Makurdi defender last summer.
Taiwo told Malaysian site Ibcnet Calm that he heard about Benfica interest and thanked the club for expressing interest in him.
''I thank the club for showing interest in me.I am an ambitious player who wants to continue to grow.If I will get that opportunity in Portugal, why not?Benfica is a good club'',he said.
Taiwo has never hidden his desire to continue with Queens Park Rangers and has repeatedly said he didn't want to go back to Milan.
That desire seems to be a wishful thinking if what Milan vice-president,Adriano Galliani said last week is anything to go by.
Galliani told the media in Italy that Taiwo will feature in the club's plan next season.
