Falcons Set For Zimbabwe Rout

African Champions, Nigeria are poised to complete a double over the Mighty Warriors of Zimbabwe when both teams clash in final round, second leg qualifying tie for this year’s African Women Championship slated for Equatorial Guinea.

The Super Falcons won the first leg 2-0 a forthnight ago in Harare, courtesy of strikes from Evelyn Nwabuiku and Stella Mbachu.
But despite the advantage, Head coach of the side, Kadiri Ikhana remains focused on the battle ahead while also praising his team for showing commitment and determination in training despite the first leg advantage.

“We have done quite a lot in terms of preparations during which the girls had shown a lot of commitment and determination towards the coming match,” Ikhana said.
“And if they can replicate what we do in training during the game, I don’t think we will have any reason not to win and convincingly too.”
In other matches, Ivory Coast take a commanding 7-0 lead to Mozambique while Bayana Bayana of South Africa who won 3-1 away in Zambia, will fancy their chances of finishing of the She-Polopolo ladies in Johannesburg this weekend.

It is not clear in the other matches, with Tanzania entertaining Ethiopia in Dar-es Salam keen to erase the 2-1 defeat suffered in Addis Ababa in the first leg match. Senegal held Morocco to a goalless draw and will be hoping to put home advantage to full use with a win to take them through to the finals.
It will be equally tough when Cameroun hosts Ghana with both teams having played a 1-1 draw two weeks ago in Accra.
Nigeria’s Falcons are the defending champions after beating Equatorial Guinea 4-2 in the final at the last edition in South Africa.
