Musa Eyes Russian Title With CSKA
Posted: Jun 22, 2012
CSKA Moscow winger, Ahmed Musa, is eyeing the league title with his Russian outift next season after his side came third behind eventual winners Zenit St Petersburg and Spartak Moscow last season, while also reviewing the Super Eagles performance in the recent games he featured in.
Musa who scored in the national team's 2-0 win over Rwanda last weekend also admitted in a chat with Complete Sports that the home-based players surpassed expectations the way they proved their mettle in the Eagles.
The former Kano Pillars forward further added that the Eagles will continue to improve by taking every match like a cup final to ensure qualification for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 FIFA World Cup.
"We are in a good transition and I'm impressed with the level of competition the home-based players have offered in the team. We have just one thing on our mind as a team - which is to qualify for the next Nations Cup and the World Cup in Brazil - and we have the quality to do that. Keshi is a good coach and I think his appointment has lifted the team again," Musa told Complete Sports.
Speaking on his ambition with his Russian team, he said:
"My target is to win the Russian league title and help my team perform better in next season's UEFA Champions League. We finished third and I hope we can do better.”
