Posted: Jun 30, 2012
Nigeria internationals, Kalu Uche and John Utaka will be on opposing sides when their clubs clash in the Ciutat de Barcelona in August.
Both clubs will be using the game to prepare for their respective campaigns in their domestic leagues.
SuperSport.com can report that the match will be held on August 3, 2012.
Montpellier HSC, the reigning French champions, will also participate in the 2012/2013 Uefa champions League with Utaka expected to play a key role in their campaign.
Uche on the other hand impressed in Spain’s La Liga when he joined Espanyol in the January transfer window.
Utaka had an impressive 2011/2012 season for Montpellier scoring eight goals in 34 appearances while Uche scored five goals in 11 appearances for Espanyol following his mid-season switch in January from Swiss side, Neuchatel Xamax.
Every August the Ciutat de Barcelona trophy marks the start of the football season with a match featuring RCD Espanyol.
The evolution of the football market has made the RCDE Stadium the ideal setting for more than just sporting competitions.
This year’s edition of the competition begins on August 1.
