Dolphins, Sharks Rekindle Rivalry In Garden City Derby

DOLPHINS  VS SHARKS

VENUE: Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt
DATE: Sunday, June 10, 2012 TIME: 4PM

Rivals Dolphins and Sharks will have more than bragging right to play for when they clash tomorrow on the astro turf of the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Dolphins who are the current Nigeria Premier League Champions, revived the dream of successfully defending their tittle with a 4-1 pulverization of Kwara United on Thursday.

That win shot them to fourth position on the log, one point behind joint leaders Enugu Rangers, Kano Pillars and Enyimba.
And with the three playing at home this weekend, nothing but the three points at stake will help them sustain the momentum.
For Sharks who earned a hard fought 1-0 win against former Champion Enyimba Football Club of Aba, they too still have hopes of clinching the league title.

The Blue Angels who are on the same points (45) with Dolphins but have a lesser goal difference and are in fifth position on the log.
A win here will surely boost their title aspirations and a repeat of the 3-1 win success in the reverse tie is what they will be looking for.
On paper, that looks like a herculean task as they have lost on their last four visits to the Liberation stadium.
But they will be buoyed by their impressive record on the road, which has seen them win two games, the highest by any team in the league this season.

Dolphins should have reliable central defender Festus Austin back from injury while Sharks will once again be without left back, Juwon Oshaniwa who is on international duty.
Both sides have quality players to choose from, with the likes of Gomo Onduku, Bernard Okorowanta and Thankgod Amaefule expected to be on parade for John Obuh’s men while Stanley Eguma can count on the experience of Kola Anubi and Isiaka Olawale.
