3SC Return To Familiar Ground As Kwara United Provide
Litmus Test For Oluyole Warriors Relegation Struggle
Returning to their ancestral home ground, Adamasingba Stadium will be the biggest motivation for Shooting Stars when the confront Kwara United today in one of the top picks of the week 17 matches of the 2011/2012 Nigeria Premier League matches.
Shooting Stars had hosted their previous eight home matches in the current campaign at the Liberty Stadium, now re-christened Obafemi Awolowo Stadium also in Ibadan but has not posted the best of performance and results.
Seeing themselves somewhat playing in a strange land, Shooting insisted on coming back home and were graciously granted their heart desires when NPL approved the Adamasingba Stadium to host Premier League games.
With Kwara United on the firing range, the home side will want to extend their home wining record to five from nine games.
In the previous eight home games, 3SC had won four and drawn four as well. With an average home record, 3SC will further be motivated by the fact they have never drawn or lost to Kwara United in Ibadan in their two previous Premier League meetings in Ibadan.
This is 3SC’s third season in the top flight which means it is their third clash with Kwara United in Ibadan. Having won the previous two, the home side will be seeking to make it three over three against their guests.
Though under an interim caretaker coaches, Hakim Busari and Tunde Odubola following the sacking of Festus Allen on Sunday, 3SC will bank on the lethal finishing of leading striker, Osagona Ighodalor who has scored four goals in the campaign to shoot down the invading Afonja Warriors.
There is also the experience and form of goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye to further add impetus to the home side’s push to win.
Kwara United on the other hand will bank on the hole in the technical bench of the home side to win. They also believe the astr turf of the Adamasingba Stadium will be of immense advantage to them having been used to playing on such pitch which is also available in Ilorin.
KEY STAT: 3SC won two of their last three home games and drew one before going on a three away losing streak. Kwara United on the other hand lost their last three away games.
Expert Verdict: 3SC has not lost any home game in the last 27 games and have won all two previous home matches against their today’s opponents. May be this could be the third win for the home side in three Premier League games in Ibadan.
