AGBIM: WE ARE NOT SCARED OF ANY OPPONENT
Posted: Jul 05, 2012
Super Eagles goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim says he is confident that Nigeria will qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations as the draw for the final round of qualifiers holds today in South Africa.
“So much has been said about the draw, and I think we need to wait to see who we are going to play before we start talking. But one thing I am sure of is that nothing will stop us from qualifying for the competition,” the Warri Wolves goalie told Complete Sports.
“We have coaches who are highly experienced and know what it means for the country to be at the next Nations Cup, so, whoever we have in our group will not be a problem but our approach and commitment to each of the game matters.
“To be candid, I will not want us to play against a team that will make the qualification difficult for us, but we will try our best to make sure that we don’t miss out this time around.
“The experience of the last edition is still very fresh in our memory and we are battle ready to guide against it this time around, so we are ready for any opponent.”
Agbim who also reflected on the three qualifiers played last month said he was not disappointed with the results of any of the games, saying leading the qualifying table for the 2014 World Cup gives him confidence that Nigeria will make it to Brazil for the FIFA tournament.
“We will try to maintain our good run in the World Cup qualifiers because the target of every player is to be at the World Cup. The Nations Cup which is our own is not even an exemption.”
