Alabi Rasheed Dismisses Sack Rumours

Nigerian defender, Alabi Rasheed has dismissed rumours that he has been sacked by his Cypriot club, AC Omonia Nicosia.

The tall central defender told MTNFootball.com from his team’s pre-season training camp in Poland, that he was disappointed when he received calls from Nigeria saying that he has been released by his team.

“I was sad when my people told me that they read in Nigeria that I have been sacked by my club in Cyprus. I wonder what the writer of that story wanted to achieve because I am still very much relevant and a member of the team,” he maintained.

“I have been an important part of the team since I joined them in 2008. I am with the team in pre-season in Poland and if the story about the sack was true, will I be here for pre-season? We have played two games here in Poland and I have played all.”

The former Gateway FC of Abeokuta star said he is looking forward to a good outing in the league and the UEFA Europa League in the coming season.

“I am here preparing to have a better outing in the league and Europa League in the new season,” said Alabi, won the Cypriot Cup back to back in 2011 and 2012 with Omonia.
