Liberia Appoint New Skipper For Eagles

Head coach of the Liberian National team, Keatu Smith, has officially named George Gebro as the captain of the side, ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
George Gebro,who plies his trade with the  Liberia Ship Corporate Registry Football Club replaced erstwhile skipper,Anthony Laffour who has been expelled from the team  for disciplinary reasons.
 
The media officer of the Lone Stars,Henry Flomo, disclosed to Complete Sports Saturday that Gabro who captained the Lone Stars albeit temporarily in their last game against Namibia, will now take full charge starting from the Nigerian  game.
"The Liberian National team coach, Keatu Smith has officially named Liberia based defender, George Gabro, as the captain of the Lone Stars, he plies his trade with the Liberia Ship Corporate Registry Football Club here in Liberia,he is a great lad and he has been around for a while now. He has been doing the job  on interim basis for a while now but he will take full  charge as permanent skipper of the Lone Stars starting from our 2013 African Cup of Nations home fixture against  the  the the Super Eagles of Nigeria in September.After lots of confrontations and interview he will replace South Africa based Anthony Laffour, who has been relieved of his duties in the team based on displinary reasons." he confirmed
 
George Gebro was part of the famous George Weah eleven that qualified for the 1996 and 2002 Nations Cups in South Africa and Mali respectively. The veteran Liberian defender is hoping to repeat that history.
The Lone Stars will host the Super Eagles of Nigeria this September in  the final  round,first leg qualifier slated for Monrovia, toward next year's Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by South Africa.
