1996 Atlanata Olympics:Nigeria became the first African nation to win an Olympic gold medal in football.The Kanu Nwankwo-led team achieved the feat by defeating Argentina in the final.It was Nigeria's second gold medal at the Games and second gold medal in the history of Nigeria's participation at the Olympics.
