Obafemi Linked With Move To Galatasaray
Posted: Jul 11, 2012
Turkish champions Galatasaray are planning to sign Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins on a one-year deal from Russian side Rubin Kazan, Turkish Daily Sabah has reported.
According to the report, Galatasaray have offered 2m euros for the striker who has also been linked with a return to the English Premier League with West Brom leading the chase, but Rubin are looking to recoup around £3million through the deal rather than allowing him to move to the Hawthorns or anywhere else on a temporary basis.
It is understood that Martins wage demands of around £40,000 a week could also prove a stumbling block for the summer move.
The 27-year- old striker who has been overlooked by the national team handlers scored only one goal for the former Russian champions last season.
Martins, who has also played for former Italian champions Inter Milan, had a spell in England with Newcastle United before joining German outfit Wolfsburg.
Martins joined Rubin Kazan after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but failed to settle after his big-money move from Wolfsburg.
