Obuh Beefs Up Flying Eagles With Five Additional Players
Coach of the Nigeria Under20 football team, John Obuh has called up five players ahead of the second leg of their third round Africa Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier against Tanzania.
The Flying Eagles defeated Tanzania 2-1 in the first leg qualifier in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Sunday and Obuh has further strengthened the squad by extending invitations to five tested junior internationals.
Ado Den Haag defender, Kenneth Omeruo was called up to the side who are the reigning African junior champions.
The Holland-based defender will be joined by Dolphins midfielder, Abduljeleel Ajagun, Bright Ejike (Sharks) and Denmark-based winger, Edafe Egbedi.
Also called up is striker Abubakar Umar, who features for Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions, Dolphin.
Omeruo was called up for the first leg in Tanzania but was not available as he was involved with pre-season training with his Dutch club, ADO Den Haag.
SuperSport.com can report that Ukraine-based defender, Aliyu Mohammed, who featured in the first leg match, as well as Spain-based Cedric Omoigui have returned to their bases.
The winners of the two-legged qualifying game between Nigeria and Tanzania will face the winners of the second round match between South Africa and Congo for a place in the final tournament in Algeria in March.
