Sunshine Coach: We Can Beat Esperance

Sunshine Stars coach, GbengaOgunbote, has declared in plain language that he has a team that can pull a surprise when they face Esperance of Tunisia in their return leg of the 2012 CAF Champions League.

The Nigerian representatives in the lucrative continental Championship recorded a 2-1 win over AsoChlef last weekend to move closer to the semi-final stage of the competition.

But Ogunbote, a former Gateway FC handler, says if Esperance can beat Sunshine 2-0 in Nigeria, his boys can also go to Tunisia and pick the maximum points.

“We are ready for this match because any positive result we pick from that match will be good enough to take us to the semi-final. And from there, we will move on, we are confident,” says Ogunbote.

“We have told the players that they need to work harder, and I am happy with the spirit the players are showing towards the encounter.

“I am also soliciting for support from everyone because we are definitely going to do our best in the competition.”

Speaking on the team’s ordeal during the last weekend’s clash with ASO Chlef, Ogunbote said the Akure side was terribly dealt with in the away game.

Sunshine will play Esperance on September  2 in Tunisia.
