Out-of-favour Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins has agreed a two-year deal with an option of another year with Spanish La Liga side,Levante after the Nigerian terminated his contract with Russian side,Rubin Kazan.
Spain's most widely read newspaper,Marca reports that Martins has agreed a massive pay-cut to join the La Liga side. The former Newcastle United forward was on an annual wage of €2.2 million at Rubin Kazan after joining the Russian club for €9 million from German Bundesliga side, Wolfsburg in 2010.He is expected to earn an annual wage of around €600,000 per season but this could rise to €750,000 based on performance. He will thus become the club's highest paid player ever.
The Super Eagle reportedly secured his Rubin Kazan freedom yesterday after agreeing to be paid onlty two months salary out of the remaining one year contract he has left.
The Nigerian also has a €5m get-out-clause inserted into his contract and he is expected to get a percentage of whatever transfer fee is paid for his services if Levante decides to sell him in future.
Although Levante are still awaiting the release letter from the Russia Football Federation,Obafemi is expected to align with his Levante mates on Saturday when they face Malaga in a La Liga fixture.
The Nigerian will however not be eligible to play for Levante in the Europa League as registration closed before he secured his move.

Obafemi Martins is a good Nigerian player and I hope LEVANTE will be pretty happy signing him on. He is one of the best hard working players in the world and looking forward to see him in the action. Thanks
