The election of General Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s new President has not affected Stephen Keshi’s return as Super Eagles coach.
Keshi and the Nigeria Football Federation have been locked in talks over his return for several months following his failure to get the Eagles through to the 2015 AFCON.
There was speculation on Tuesday following the announcement of the election results that Keshi’s contract might not be honoured as he is said not to be the NFF’s choice, that he reportedly enjoys the patronage of high-ranking members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, especially the out-going president,Goodluck Joinathan who ordered his reinstatement after he (Keshi) was booted out by the NFF following Nigeria’s loss to Sudan in one of the qualifying games for the last AFCON.
But the NFF President Pinnick Amaju refuted the speculation by insisting that the body will give Keshi the job as soon as the coach agrees to the terms of the contract on offer.
Amaju promised that Keshi could sign as Super Eagles as soon as after the Easter holidays.Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria
