The Chairman of Nigeria Football Federation’s Technical and Development sub committee, Felix Anyansi, has said that winning the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Chile is not a priority.
According to Anyansi, the NFF are not setting a target for the Golden Eaglets led by former Super Eagles star Emmanuel Amuneke at the World Cup, adding that the idea is to develop talents for the future.
“We are not putting pressure on Amuneke and his team to win the World Cup,” Anyansi told Complete Sports.
“All we want is to see the development of young players who would hopefully rise to become Super Eagles players.
“All I we want from the coach is to produce good players and expose them at the World Cup, if they go ahead to win it, that will be a bonus to us but the objective is to raise talents for NIgeria.”
He expressed confidence in the abilities of the Dream Team and Super Falcons to win gold medals for the country at the All Africa Games in Congo, stressing that the set back suffered by the Falcons in the Olympic qualifier will not deter them.
He said the NFF in liaison with the National Sports CommIssion will ensure that both teams get the best preparations for the AAG and win the gold medals at their respective events.
