Following their progression to the third qualifying round for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, chairperson of the Nigeria National Women’s League and executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dilichukwu Onyedinma says the Super Falcons will now concentrate on playing ‘proper’ friendly games in preparation for the Women’s World Cup.
Dilichukwu says now is the time to get the team playing ‘proper’ friendlies ans preparing properly for the World Cup.
“Since the Malians have decided not to come we have to focus on the World Cup now,” she said.
“This is the time we start playing proper friendly matches and preparing properly for the competition.
“We couldn’t do all that when we were not through with the Olympic qualifiers because we didn’t want any distractions for the girls.
“Now that we have made progress it’s time to focus squarely on preparing for the World Cup,” she added.
Sl10.ng can confirm that the team will have a training camp in Canada, where the World Cup holds and Dilichukwu says this is in order to get them acclimatised to how the World Cup will be.
“They’ll camp in Canada before the start of the World Cup and this is to get them used to the weather, pitches and everything there,” she confirmed.
