Defending champions the Super Falcons of Nigeria will face hosts Cameroon in the final of this year's Africa Women's Cup of Nations on Saturday.
This is the third time the two countries will clash in the final with the Falcons emerging victors on the two previous occasions (2004 and 2014).
Ahead of Saturday's final, Completesportsnigeria.com's JAMES AGBEREBI reveals how both teams have fared against each other in the AWCON.
NIGERIA 6-0 CAMEROON (Semifinal, AWCON 1998)
The Super Falcons first meeting against Cameroon at the Africa Women's Cup of Nations was the maiden edition hosted in 1998 in Nigeria.
After comfortably topping Group A that had Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo and Egypt, the Falcons faced Cameroon in the last four and trounced them 6-0 to advance into the final.
And in the final, the Falcons beat Ghana 2-0 to win the first-ever AWCON title.
NIGERIA 3-0 CAMEROON ( Group game, AWCON 2000)
At the AWCON 2000 in South Africa, the Falcons and Cameroon met in their last group game.
Going into the game on four points, the Falcons needed an outright win to confirm passage into the semifinals and they won 3-0 and progressed into the semi-finals.
The Falcons got to the final and defeated hosts South Africa 2-0 to claim their second straight African title.
The final was abandoned due to crowd trouble after the Falcons scored their second goal but they were awarded the trophy.
NIGERIA 2-2 CAMEROON (Group game, AWCON 2004)
The Falcons met Cameroon in their second Group B game of the AWCON 2004 in South Africa.
And for the first time, the Falcons failed to beat Cameroon as both teams settled for a 2-2 draw.
NIGERIA 5-0 CAMEROON (Final, AWCON 2004)
The Falcons had the chance to right the wrongs of their group stage encounter with Cameroon when the two teams met again in the final of the AWCON 2004.
And the Cameroonians were battered 5-0 by the Falcons.
NIGERIA 5-0 CAMEROON (Semifinal, AWCON 2006)
Nigeria hosted the AWCON for the third time in 2006 and did not experience difficulties qualifying for the semifinals.
The Super Falcons were up against Cameroon and bashed the Lionesses 5-0 to qualify for their fifth straight final.
And against Ghana in the final, the Falcons triumphed 1-0 to emerge champions yet again.
NIGERIA 1-1 CAMEROON; Falcons won 4-3 on penalties (Third place match, AWCON 2008)
For the first time, the Falcons failed to qualify for the final of the AWCON following their 1-0 semifinal defeat to hosts Equatorial Guinea in 2008.
In the third place match they faced Cameroon and won 4-3 on penalties after regulation time had ended 1-1.
NIGERIA 5-1 CAMEROON (Semifinal, AWCON 2010)
At the 2010 AWCON in South Africa, the Falcons and Cameroon faced each other again in the semifinal.
This was the third time the two teams would be drawn against each other in the last four.
The Super Falcons made easy work of Cameroon, beating them 5-1 to advance into the final.
In the final, the Falcons met defending champions Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria won 4-2 to claim their title back.
NIGERIA 2-1 CAMEROON (Group B, AWCON 2012)
The 2012 edition of the AWCON held in Equatorial Guinea was the third time the Falcons and Cameroon would be drawn in the same group.
This time they met in their first Group B game with the Falcons winning 2-1.
The two teams went on to qualify for the semifinals together.
CAMEROON 1-0 NIGERIA (Third place match, AWCON 2012)
After both the Falcons and Cameroon lost to South Africa and Equatorial Guinea in the semifinals respectively, they slugged it out in the third place match.
Cameroon recorded their first win against the Falcons thanks to 1-0 victory, leaving the Falcons empty handed.
NIGERIA 2-0 CAMEROON (Final, AWCON 2014)
The 2014 AWCON in Namibia saw the Falcons and Cameroon do battle in the final.
It was also the second time the two teams would contest the final of the AWCON.
