By James Agberebi:

Nigeria moved up three places – from 70th to 67th, in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola World Ranking released on Thursday, reports.

The Eagles have been on a free fall in the past few months, a result which saw them experience their worst rankings in recent times.

While making a slight improvement in the world ranking, the three-time African Cup of Nations winner, now occupy 16th position in Africa.

Algeria remain Africa's best ranked team as they occupy number 32 in the world and first on the continent.

Other African countries that are highly placed ahead of Nigeria are; Ghana who are 35th, Cote d'Ivoire 36th, Senegal and Egypt 43rd position respectively.

Meanwhile, a quiet month of international football resulted in a largely static world ranking, with no movement in the top 20.

Argentina still maintain number one position in the world and are followed by Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Chile, Portugal, France, Spain, Brazil and Italy.
