Nigerian powerlifter, Yakubu Adesokan, on Tuesday afternoon won a 2015 All Africa Games gold medal as the powerlifting event started at the D’Ornanou, here in Brazzaville..

Competing in the 49kg category, Adesokan lifted 182.5kg to take home the gold medal, leaving his Algerian counterpart with the silver medal.

Adesokan’s 182.5kg lift is also a new African record.

“I’m excited, I can’t thank God enough for this,” a happy Adesokan told completesportsnigeria.com after his glorious moment.

Meanwhile, organisers of the on-going 11th All Africa Games have put to a stop ticket sells at various centres of the events. Instead, they have asked that gates be thrown open to allow people free access to the games. This is coming in the wake of days after tickets were put on sale at CFA1000.
