Organisers of the domestic second-tier football league,Nigeria National League, NNL, has urged clubs to make effective use of the extension of the season’s kickoff date to complete their registration formalities, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Chairman of the board High Chief Emeka Inyama warned that any club who failed to complete its registration formalities within the required period will risk being excluded from the league.
Inyama who is also an executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF while reading what could best be described as riot act warned that they can afford to play the season with fewer clubs than accommodate teams who fail short of the required standard.
“We have extended the kickoff date for the season by two weeks, meaning that the season will now start on May 15.
“So we expect that all the clubs who are yet to complete their registration formalities should avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the shift in kick off date.
“After the stipulated time frame allowed for the registration exercise, the league will start irrespective of how many clubs that met the requirements.
“We cannot compromise standard we are prepared to go ahead with even as less as five clubs in each group”, Inyama stressed.
The former Abia State Commissioner for Sports who later became the state’s football association boss insisted that NNL is primed to deliver excellent league and assured that everything is being done to ensure a successful 2015/2016 season.Jiji.ng the cheapest online shopping in Nigeria.
