The management of Nigeria National League side, Kogi United FC, has sacked Head Coach, Ishaya Jatau as a result of an unconvincing start to the new season campaign, reportsCompletesportsnigeria.com.
In a statement signed by the club chairman, Abdul Sule in Lokoja and made available to the mediaon Monday, the club informed that Jatau's assistant Musa Abubakar will act in his capacity until a new coach is appointed.
The statement made available to Completesportsnigeria.com explained that the decision to sack the onetime Nigeria Professional Football League top scorer was reached after the club's disappointing 1-0 loss to FC Zamfara in the Matchday-one of the new season.
"We are aspiring to get promoted to NPFL this season, we tried that last year but we couldn't succeed due to tactical deficiencies as we lost most games in the dying minutes, also our last result against FC Zamfara wasn't encouraging, that reflected from the preseason we had.
"We have a good team, but unfortunately, we don't have a tactical approach, this resulted to our decision and I've asked the chief coach, Ishaya Jatau to step aside for now and his assistant Musa Abubakar to act for now until a decision is reached in that regard for a new handler.
"It's a very difficult decision to take, but that's the game. Jatau is a nice and great guy, he's tried all he could but things doesn't really worked out for him so we wish him well," said the statement.
Kogi United lost 0-1 to FC Zamfara courtesy of an 85th minute scrambled effort by Abass Abare in Gusau.
