Enugu Rangers and Heartland settled for a point each as both sides battled to a goalless draw in their Nigeria Professional Football League Oriental derby clash at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium on Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The match was played under the floodlights in Enugu before a capacity crowd, the second packed Friday night match in Enugu this season.
Heartland boss, Alphonsus Dike, made five changes to the side held to a goalless draw by Plateau United in midweek.
For the home side, Bobby Clement was only fit for a place on the bench with Tope Olusesi who bagged a brace in the Flying Antelopes’ 4-1 win against Ikorodu United in their last fixture preferred to lead the attack.
The hosts dominated the game and were handed a chance to to take the lead when Bobby Clement was pulled down in the box by Zoumana Doumbia in the 41st minute.
Ebele Obi however saved Chisom Egbuchulam’s penalty ensuring both sides ended the first half without scoring a goal.
Rangers fought hard to register a goal after the break with Godwin, Clement and Egbuchulam all coming close to break the deadlock.
