Niger Tornadoes secured a hard-fought 2-1 win against Northern rivals Kano Pillars in their Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 18 fixture at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Thursday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The visitors took the lead through Ifeanyi Matthew in the 18th minute.

Tornadoes fought back spiritedly afterwards and were rewarded for their efforts five minutes before the break when Adebayo Abiodun got the equalising goal.

Bolaji Adeyemi put the hosts ahead for the first time in the game in the 47th minute following a goalmouth melee.

In another week 18 fixture, FC IfeanyiUbah and MFMC battled to a barren draw in Nnewi.
