Abia Warriors defender, Austin Obaroakpo has lavished praises on former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo for his services to Nigeria as the date for his testimonial beckons.
Yobo, a former Standard Liege, Olympique Marseille, Everton, Fenerbahce and Norwich City central defender called it quits with football and will be honoured with a testimonial match on May 20 at the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt.
The match which will attract former Super Eagles players and a galaxy of other superstars from across the globe, like Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba, is the initiative of the River State Government.
Obaroakpo hinted to Completesportsnigeria.com that the former international is his role model and spoke of his thoughts on his retirement.
"I feel Joseph Yobo is still young to retire," the defender who was in Nigeria's squad to the 2016 Africa Nations Championship began with a laughter.
"Yobo's experience and leadership will be missed, but I believe we shall have a team with a player of his calibre again. Players like Kenneth Omeruo, Godfrey Oboabona, myself and others are working hard to be like Yobo.
" I still can't believe he is retiring because I loved watching him and Taribo West, but I wish him all the best in whatever he does," Obaroakpo told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Yobo was capped 101 times by Nigeria and played at three World Cups; 2002, 2010 and 2014.
Yobo's breakthrough came after his U-20 World Cup exploits in 1999 when Nigeria hosted the world.Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
