Home-based Super Eagles defender, Austin Obaroakpo, says the team wants to make history by winning a first African Nations Championship title in Rwanda, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Eagles failed to qualify for the first two editions of the biennial competition, but won bronze in their first appearance two years ago in South Africa.
They will hope to go a step further this time around by claiming the ultimate prize.
And Obaroakpo, who has just been appointed the vice-captain of the side, is adamant they can beat the other 15 contenders to the title.
“Our main objective going into the competition in Rwanda is to be the number one team,”the Abia Warriors centre-back hinted Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We want to make names for ourselves by becoming the first set of players to win the CHAN for Nigeria.
“The spirit in camp is fantastic and we have the right players to achieve that.”
Nigeria will take on Cote d’l voire in their final build up game ahead of the competition on Monday.
