Home-based Eagles defender, Austin Obaroakpo, says the side have let themselves and the nation down following their ouster from the African Nations Championship, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Eagles needed only a draw to make it to the quater-finals, but lost 1-0 to the Syli Stars on Tuesday.
The Abia Warriors defender told Completesportsnigeria.com that they are saddened with their defeat and ouster from the competition.
”I want to start by apologising to our fans back home in Nigeria,” he said.
”We know how passionate they are about the game and we are sad to have let them down.
”We still can’t believe we are out of the competition.”
